How to download stories on iPhone and Android

Instagram has no “save” button for other people’s stories, posts and videos. But you can still download them to your phone — with no apps and no sign-up, right in the browser. Here’s how, and why it’s anonymous.

Why Instagram has no download

Instagram deliberately blocks saving other people’s content — the most you get is a screenshot or screen recording, often at reduced quality. So for a proper HD download you need a third-party tool.

The simplest way — through Storix

Enter a username → open the story, highlight or post you want → tap “Download HD”. The file is saved in original quality, with no watermark. It works the same on iPhone and Android, because everything happens in the browser — nothing to install.

On iPhone (Safari)

After you tap “Download”, iPhone will offer to save the file. Photos usually go to “Downloads” or straight to “Photos”; for videos a “Save Video” option appears. If the file opens in a new tab, press and hold it and choose “Save to Photos”.

On Android (Chrome)

The file lands in the “Downloads” folder, and photos and videos usually show up in the Gallery right away. If it asks permission to download, confirm it.

Is it anonymous

Yes. The download goes through the service, not from your account — so you don’t appear in the viewers list. One important exception: a screenshot of a disappearing photo in Instagram DMs can notify the owner. This does not apply to ordinary stories, posts and highlights.

Downloaded content is meant for personal viewing. Re-posting someone else’s photos or videos without the author’s consent infringes copyright — keep that in mind.
